Here For You: Service Providers

If you work with children or youth, you play a key role in keeping them safe. Umingmak Centre offers resources, training, and a network of support to help you respond with care.

Your Role. Your Responsibility.

You do not need definitive proof to make a report—reasonable concern is enough. Reports can be made to local RCMP or to Child and Family Services, and your identity can be kept confidential. Trained professionals will assess the report and determine the appropriate response.

The Referral Process

If you're coming to Umingmak Centre, it means someone who cares about your safety—like the RCMP or Family Services—has made a referral to help you get support.

When you arrive, someone from our team will meet you at the door. We’ll explain what’s going to happen, answer your questions, and help you feel as comfortable as possible.

Umingmak Centre is a calm, welcoming place that reflects Inuit values—respect, care, and community. You might talk with an interviewer who’s trained to work with young people, or meet a doctor for a check-up. Some visits are short, and others take a bit longer—every visit is a little different, because every person is different.

You’ll never be pressured to say or do anything you’re not ready for. We’re here to listen and walk alongside you.

Our Service Model

Umingmak Centre brings key services together under one roof—so children, youth, and caregivers don’t have to navigate the system alone. Our wrap-around model connects RCMP officers, social workers, pediatricians, therapists, and advocates in one place. With a dedicated navigator supporting each family, we make sure care is coordinated, compassionate, and grounded in trust.
