How We Can Help You

If you’ve been referred to the Umingmak Centre, we’re here to walk alongside you with care, respect, and support. You might talk to someone trained to help kids and youth feel safe while sharing their story. You may also meet a doctor, a counsellor, or an advocate who will be with you every step of the way. Every visit is different, because every person is different. Our space is calm, private, and welcoming—designed to reflect Inuit values and community care. Whether you’re here for one visit or many, we’ll work with you to make sure you feel supported, heard, and safe.

What To Expect

If you're coming to Umingmak Centre, it means someone who cares about your safety—like the RCMP or Family Services—has made a referral to help you get support.

When you arrive, someone from our team will meet you at the door. We’ll explain what’s going to happen, answer your questions, and help you feel as comfortable as possible.
Umingmak Centre is a calm, welcoming place that reflects Inuit values—respect, care, and community. You might talk with an interviewer who’s trained to work with young people, or meet a doctor for a check-up. Some visits are short, and others take a bit longer—every visit is a little different, because every person is different.

You’ll never be pressured to say or do anything you’re not ready for. We’re here to listen and walk alongside you.
